Our Philosophy
- The children entrusted to us as complete, capable and competent individuals;
- Their parents, their beliefs, backgrounds, values and aspirations for their children;
- The staff, their unique experience and knowledge as pedagogues;
- Our environment, our land, its original Owners and all those with whom we share it.
Our Class Groups
Our early education classes are broken into age groups of 0-2 years, 2-3 years, 3-4 years and Preschool which caters for children 4+ years. Each class curriculum is specifically designed to provide children with the best possible introduction to the skills they will use throughout their education.
- Ngurra (The Nest) – 0-2 Years
- Gunyuu (Willy Wagtails) – 2-3 Years
- Ganyi (Echnidas) – 3-4 Years
- Burumin (Possums) – 4+ Years
Our Curriculum
Starting with our 0-2 year olds, our classes are founded on the principles of Educating established by Magda Gerber through RIE, we believe in the innate competency of every child, allowing them time and space to develop at their own pace with sensitive and respectful observation and interaction.
Principles of trust, respect and confidence are utilised to establish secure relationships with the children in our care. These children learn that our Educators are people they can depend upon to meet their needs. New parents to the room should know that they can approach any Educator with confidence when they have questions or concerns.
The environment and activities are thoughtfully planned and continually reassessed to ensure they simultaneously provide a secure and warm home away from home, while supporting each child’s individual needs for development. Part of this planning involves ensuring that each child’s individual routine is embraced and supported in partnership with parents.
Our Burumin room (or Preschool for children over 4 years) values independence, self-paced learning and learning through play. The pedagogy aligns with the Montessori method of teaching. The classroom environment is carefully prepared to ensure children are stimulated to engage and develop their dispositions for learning. The atmosphere is creative and natural with many elements of the natural living environment.
