- About Green Gables
We are committed to providing children with the best possible Early Childhood Education environment by working collaboratively with parents to best meet the needs of each child
Our Practice
At Green Gables Kindergarten we provide a warm and friendly environment where families feel welcome and children feel secure. An environment that encourages feelings of security and confidence enables children to play and develop as individuals. To foster these qualities we ensure each day that the environment is nurturing, predictable, safe and supportive.
Interactions with children are warm, caring and loving using positive verbal and non-verbal communication. This makes children feel valued and important, models socially appropriate behaviour and helps to build strong relationships.
A child’s cultural background is an intrinsic part of their identity. We honour and celebrate many and varied multicultural events throughout the year. We provide an inclusive environment by adapting educational experiences and environments and working closely with teams of support professionals.
We promote a healthy lifestyle through regular active play and activities, nutritious and healthy meals and a strong focus on hygiene. Children are encouraged to make decisions, solve problems and contribute to our environment.
Hours Of Operation
We are open from 7:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, for 50 weeks of the year. We are closed:
- for 2 weeks over the Christmas and New Year period (dates vary from year to year and parents are informed well in advance)
- for all normal NSW public holidays (but not industry specific days such as the NSW Bank Holiday)
Our Class Groups
The Centre is divided into four rooms and the children are separated according to age.
- The Ngurra room – children from 6 weeks to 2 years of age
- The Gunyuu room – children aged 2 to 3 years
- The Ganyi room – children aged from 3 to 4 years
- The Burumin room – children aged 4 to school years
Children are placed in a class dependent on their age at 1 January each year, transitioning to the next class each year; this does occasionally vary according to the developmental needs of individual children and is at the discretion of the Director.
Meals
We provide morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and a late snack. Families are encouraged to have breakfast with their child. All meals are provided by a specialised catering service Kids Gourmet Food who prepare and deliver all our meals each day and ensure they meet NSW Health requirements for nutrition in long day care centres. The menus are on display in the foyer and rotate on a six-weekly basis.
We believe that eating habits develop at a young age. To help your child develop healthy eating habits, Educators sit with children at mealtimes to model healthy eating and routinely discuss healthy lifestyles as part of the educational program.
Government Fee Assistance
Green Gables Kindergarten is an approved long cay care service which means that families are able to receive fee assistance from the Government. Depending on your household income, you may be entitled to receive the Child Care Subsidy (CCS). Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is means tested taking into account household income and hours of activity undertaken by parents.
